Two Weeks to Singapore Design Week 2024 – Key Events to Watch!

From inspiring installations by top Singapore designers to cutting-edge talks by international speakers and hands-on workshops, Singapore Design Week (SDW) 2024 has it all. The festival runs from 26 September to 6 October, celebrating the creativity in all of us through the theme “People of Design”.

Dive into the line-up at SDW.SG to find out more.

But for now, here’s a round-up of the not-to-be-missed key events!

SDW 2024 HIGHLIGHTS

Explore These Curated Experiences in the SDW Design Districts

This year, the SDW Design Districts will feature even more curated design experiences – and an expanded footprint to boot!

SDW24 BRASBASAH.BUGIS DESIGN DISTRICT

There’s always much to enjoy during SDW in the Bras Basah.Bugis (BBB) Design District, which is home to a spectrum of creative institutions and locations. This year, designer Hans Tan has assembled an enviable collective of curatorial collaborators for the People of Design Showcase Series, which pops up at various spots around BBB.

They will each present a site-specific, experiential installation that examines the design and creativity found in an everyday activity. The series will have you rethinking how you eat, sleep, shop, read, heal, make, plant, commute, display, and design!

SDW24 MARINA DESIGN DISTRICT

Get yourself acquainted with the Marina Design District where SDW activities extend north of the Helix Bridge. Marina Square, Millenia Walk, South Beach, and Suntec City are all part of this larger district, with Nathan Yong curating diverse experiences through Neufolk: Bridging Tradition and Future in Design.

Charge your devices using the kinetic energy generated by a swing, play with movement and light inside a public sculpture, or slow down for an exhibition, talks, and workshops at the Neufolk Design Pavilion, plus plenty more!

SDW24 ORCHARD DESIGN DISTRICT

Over at the Orchard Design District, PLUS Collaboratives invite you to reimagine Singapore's famous shopping belt with Re-Route: Orchard. Themed “Be Here Now”, their curated activations include a colourful retro playscape at Far East Plaza, a design showcase on the adaptive reuse of objects, and opportunities to discover lesser-known spots in Orchard.

Double the Fun with Two Friday Lates!

Kick back and relax after hours with late-night programming at SDW – this year we’ve doubled the fun!

The Bras Basah.Bugis Design District is the place to be on 27 September. Friday Late at Bras Basah.Bugis will offer a VR experience, food design performances, a silent auction of well-worn books, interactive workshops, and much more.

On 4 October, soak in the festivities at Friday Late at Marina Central, as it presents a dynamic fusion of design, music, food, and crafts across four zones in the outdoor spaces of Marina Square, Millenia Walk, South Beach, and Suntec City, in collaboration with District M.

Hop on a free shuttle bus, available over the two SDW weekends, to explore the three Design Districts with ease! Buses run from 5pm to 9pm on Friday evenings and 11am to 8pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Visit the Visitor Information section on SDW.SG for the timetables and routes.

With more than 60 established and emerging designers featured, EMERGE @ FIND will also cast the spotlight on Southeast Asian designers who recently graduated, making the showcase ideal for talent spotting.

What’s more, the exhibited objects will be available for purchase online through The Artling. Don’t miss the opportunity to discover and invest in Southeast Asian design!

Register now for free entry to EMERGE @ FIND, or grab a ticket from 26 September onwards for S$39. The exhibition is part of FIND – Design Fair Asia. Note that 26 and 27 September are for trade visitors, and the public is welcome on 28 September.
